PITCH SET UP
- Wickets should be a maximum of 16 yards apart with a batting crease of about 1 yard
- There are no recommendations for the size of the outfield so this will be left to staff discretion and space available
Event Details
RULES
- 8 - a - side (changes during games only for injuries). Squad size at schools discretion.
- An innings consists of 8 overs of 6 balls
- Each team starts with 200 runs
- 5 points deducted for each wicket lost. Batters must swap sides (unless run out)
- No LBW's
- Umpires decision on run-outs
- Players and spectators will be expected to behave in a sporting manner
BATTING
- Each pair will bat for 2 overs
- Batters swap ends at the end of each over
- A batter is deemed out if they hit their own stumps with bat or body
BOWLING / FIELDING
- Each team member must bowl 1 over. However, if the wicket keeper remains the same throughout then 1 player may bowl 2 overs.
- Balls must be bowled with an overarm action for the first 2 balls of an over. If it is deemed by the umpire that the bowler cannot bowl overarm accurately then they will be allowed to bowl underarm for the remaining 4 balls. This is at the umpires discretion.
- Fielders must not obstruct batters whilst they are running.
NO BALLS / WIDES
- No balls and wides will count for 2 runs - no extra ball will be bowled unless it is the last over. If it is the last over, an extra ball must be bowled for each no ball or wide
- A no ball is called if the ball bounces more than once or is bowled above stump height without bouncing.
- A wide is called if the ball can not be reached by the batter in more than one step.
- If a player hits a no ball they can not be caught out. However, if they decide to run on a no ball or wide they can be run out.
- Umpires decision is final. Any unsporting behaviour may results in points being awarded/removed.
