Event Details
- 10 Players make up a team (5 Boys and 5 Girls)
- Teams will receive 20 good balls per innings (see below for no ball criteria)
- Games should be played using incrediballs
BATTING RULES
- When batting teams must wait in the backward area well away from 4th base
- If out, wait in the backward area well away from 1st post
- Even if you miss the ball you must run (apart from no-ball)
- You can take a run on a no ball, but once you reach 1st post you cannot return. You score in the normal way.
- If you hit the ball behind you can only go to 1st base. You can not go further than 1st base until the ball comes back over the home base line.
- When running between bases you must run on the outside of the posts
- If an obstruction from a fielder causes you to be stumped you are not out and stop at the post you are running to.
- You MUST keep the bat in your hands at all times.
- When the bowler has the ball in their hands in the bowling square you can't run. If you have already passed a base then you can only carry on to the next base.
NO BALL RULES
A ball will be classed as a no ball if:
- It is not completed using a smooth underarm action
- It is above head or below knee height when it reaches the batter
- It bounces
- It is wide or straight at the body
- The bowlers foot is outside the square during the bowling action
OUT WHEN
- Caught
- Running inside post after 1 team warning (unless obstructed - see above)
- The post you are running to is stumped (unless obstructed – see above)
- You overtake a runner in front
- You obstruct a fielder
- You drop the bat whilst running or batting
RUNNING AROUND THE TRACK
- You MUST carry the bat at all times.
- When not running you must keep contact with the post with either hand or bat.
- When the bowler has the ball in his square you can not move on but if you are between posts you can carry on to the next.
- You can not have two batters at the same post. The first runner must carry on to the next post. For the first runner to be out, the post must be stumped while the runner is running towards it, not when they are standing as the post.
- You do not have to run for every ball whilst you are at a post, unless a runner will be arriving at the post you are on.
- You can run between posts as soon as the ball leaves the bowlers hand including no balls.
- You must touch 4th post with your bat on getting home you can still be stumped even if you have gone past the post.
- Runners ONLY have to touch 4th post. Teams may be warned and have points deducted for continually knocking other posts over.
SCORING
1 Rounder is scored:
- When the ball is hit and 4th post is reached and touched before the bowler receives the ball in their square. If the runner has already passed 3rd post then they are allowed to carry on to 4th post even if the bowler has the ball.
- When ball is hit and 4th post reached on a no ball (you can’t be caught out)
- For a backward hit if 4th post reached (you stay at 1st while ball is in the backward area).
1/2 a Rounder is scored:
- ball is hit and 2nd post reached and touched before the bowler receives the ball in their square - but if you continue this run and are put out before reaching 4th post, the score will be nullified.
- If you reach 4th post in one go but did not hit the ball.
