Key Stage 1-4 Cheerleading Competition
4 schools took part in the first ever Barnsley Cheerleading competition on Tuesday 18th March at Greenacre School. As this was the first time the event had been held in Barnsley, it was open to all age groups to come and take part. Each school who took part had obviously spent a hugh amount of time in preparation for the event as the routines which they produced were of the highest quality. The event was judged on a number of criteria from overall impression to quality of the formations and spacing with each school aiming to score the highest score possible
After all the schools had completed their routine, the judges decided after a long deliberation that St. Michael's were worthy winners of the event and become the first ever Barnsley Cheerleading champions. Hopefully next year the event will attract more schools as what was displayed this year showed how high the quality is within Barnsley.
Thanks go to Sarah McDonald (Greenacre SSCo) for setting up and running the event and also to the children and staff from Greenacre who provided support throughout the afternoon for all the competitors who took part.
