Key Stage 3 Gymnastics Competition - Judges Feedback
Well done Kirk Balk. A very nice, clean and well executed routine with full use of the floor and a good understanding of the routine. If you keep this performance for the South Yorkshire competition you should be up there with the winners.
Second and third place were very hard to split. The Kingstone Movers had a more complex routine, but moves were performed with bent legs and toes not pointed which lost points. The Kingstone Pink Panthers had less complexity but the performance was smoother and cleaner.
Edward Sheerien worked very well as a team and had good use of the floor. A nice balance routine with girls working hard and I wish I could give a higher score, but again, legs, toes and arms need to be perfect.
I said second and third place were hard to split, but fifth place was impossible. Penistone the best visually, with beautiful face make up and a routine to match. Kingstone Dazzlers had a well worked routine, but both need to use individual balances in their routines
Barnsley Academy should not be disspaointed with this placing as there is only 1.0 between top and bottom. It was a very hard competition to judge, and you should work harder in team moves, because you have the base for a good gymnastics team.
JUDGES NOTES
Both I and my fellow judges, Varsiliki and Gail are very happy to see the future of gymnastics in Barnsley going forward with such a high standard. There was not one bad performance at Kingstone on Thursday and you can see that by the close scoring involved. There is still a lot of hard work to be done; concentrate on flexibility and strength in your gymnasts which will make elements they perform easier. But, please focus on pointed toes, fully extended legs and arms which are very important.

Jonh Winder (Assistant Coach at Barnsley Gymnastics Club & Club Judge)
